Item 7.01 Regulation FD Disclosure

AmericanWest Bank (“AWB”), the principal subsidiary of AmericanWest Bancorporation, submitted an application on April 6, 2006 to the Utah State Department of Financial Institutions for approval for AWB to open a loan production office in Murray, Utah, a suburban community approximately nine miles outside of Salt Lake City, Utah. AWB intends to open the office as soon as regulatory approval is obtained, anticipated to be in May, 2006. AWB has full expectations of opening full-service branch operations in this rapidly growing Utah market later this calendar year.
