          APPOINTMENT OF PRINCIPAL OFFICERS

Hudson Valley Holding Corp. (the "Company") announces that as of October 18,
2004, Joel C. Sweren, 55, has joined Hudson Valley Bank (the "Bank"), a
subsidiary of the Company, as Executive Vice President, Chief Operating
Officer. Prior to joining the Bank, he was President of Safety Net Business
Services, LLC, a consulting company, from January 1996 through September 2004;
President and Chief Executive Officer of Maryland Permanent Bank, from November
2000 to March 2003; and Senior Vice President, Operations Division of the Bank
of Baltimore, from October 1991 to March 1995.
