DESCRIPTION OF THE BUSINESS	1. DESCRIPTION OF THE BUSINESS Bioanalytical Systems, Inc. and its subsidiaries (the "Company" or "BASi" or "we") engage in research services and other services related to pharmaceutical development. We also manufacture scientific instruments for medical research, which we sell with related software for use in industrial, governmental and academic laboratories. We conduct our businesses through our research and manufacturing facilities in Indiana. Our customers are located throughout the world.
