Depreciation is computed using the straight-line method based on the estimated service or remaining useful lives of the various classes of depreciable assets. Depreciation expense was $6,684,461 and $6,142,980 in 2013 and 2012. The composite depreciation rates on communications plant and equipment for the two years ended December 31, 2013 and 2012 were 5.2% and 5.4%. Other property and video plant is depreciated over estimated useful lives of three to twenty-five years.
