THE COMMITTEE TO PRESERVE SHAREHOLDER VALUE WINS SUPPORT FROM SECOND PROXY ADVISORY FIRM IN PROXY CONTEST AGAINST CENTER BANCORP, INC.

GLASS LEWIS RECOMMENDS SHAREHOLDERS VOTE ON THE COMMITTEE TO PRESERVE SHAREHOLDER VALUE’S WHITE PROXY CARD


MAY 4, 2007 PR Newswire/ -- The Committee to Preserve Shareholder Value (“The Committee”) today announced that Glass Lewis & Co., one of the nation’s leading independent proxy advisory firms, issued an analysis for the Center Bancorp, Inc. (NASDAQ: CNBC) proxy contest. Glass Lewis has recommended that shareholders vote on The Committee’s WHITE proxy card for Lawrence Seidman and Raymond Vanaria.

In its analysis Glass Lewis noted, “The current management team has struggled to right the ship during the past year.” Glass Lewis went on further to mention, “we believe that the participation of a large, long-term shareholder on the board could be beneficial.”
