NOTE 5—INVESTMENTS

At December 31, 2013, we had investments with a fair value of $13.5 million. Our investment portfolio consists primarily of investments in commercial paper. Our investments are classified as available-for-sale and are carried at fair value with unrealized gains and losses, net of tax, reported as a component of other comprehensive income (loss). During the year ended December 31, 2013, we recognized other than temporary impairment of $1.6 million on the asset-backed securities and collateralized mortgage obligations. Our net unrealized gain on investments was $0.2 million as of December 31, 2013, and our unrealized loss on investments was $2.4 million as of December 31, 2012.
