Schedule of Future Minimum Rental Payments for Operating Leases

The Company and its subsidiaries lease various premises and equipment under operating lease agreements which expire at various dates through 2023. Rental expense for 2016, 2015 and 2014 was $1,397,000, $1,387,000 and $1,405,000, respectively. The following is a schedule, by year, of future minimum rental payments required under operating leases that have initial or remaining non-cancelable lease terms in excess of one year as of December 31, 2016:
