NBTY ANNOUNCES PRELIMINARY UNAUDITED NET SALES RESULTS FOR APRIL 2009

 

RONKONKOMA, N.Y. – May 11, 2009 - NBTY, Inc. (NYSE: NTY) (www.NBTY.com), a leading global manufacturer and marketer of nutritional supplements, today announced the following preliminary unaudited net sales results for the month of  April 2009 by segment:

North American Retail same store sales increased 2% for the one month period.  European Retail net sales for April 2009 include $9 million from Julian Graves, which NBTY acquired in September 2008.  Excluding Julian Graves sales, European Retail net sales increased 7% in local currency (British Pound Sterling), and decreased 21% in US dollars for the period.
