Tenet Responds to Rumor of FBI Search of Its Headquarters

SANTA BARBARA, Calif.—Oct. 31, 2002—Tenet Healthcare Corporation (NYSE: THC) understands that there is a rumor circulating that its corporate headquarters has been searched by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The company wishes to emphasize that this is absolutely untrue. As Tenet's press release stated earlier today, we are deeply concerned by allegations contained in an affidavit filed today by the U.S. Attorney's Office in Sacramento, Calif., regarding two physicians who practice at Tenet's Redding Medical Center in Redding, Calif. We believe the unfounded rumors may be an outgrowth of that matter.
