For the year ended December 31, 2016, the provision for loan losses excluded a $288,000 increase in the reserve for unfunded lending commitments. The total provision for credit losses, comprised of allocations for both funded and unfunded loans, was $13.2 million for the year ended December 31, 2016. For the year ended December 31, 2015, the provision for loan losses excluded a $571,000 increase in the reserve for unfunded lending commitments. As of December 31, 2016 and 2015, there were $60.5 million and $50.0 million, respectively, of impaired loans that did not have a related allowance for loan loss. The estimated fair values of the collateral securing these loans exceeded their carrying amount, or the loans have been charged down to realizable collateral values. Accordingly, no specific valuation allowance was considered to be necessary.
