Currency translation adjustments resulting from translating Apache’s Canadian subsidiaries’ financial statements into U.S. dollar equivalents, prior to adoption of the U.S. dollar as their functional currency, were reported separately and accumulated in other comprehensive loss. This currency translation loss was recognized as a reduction of the net gain on divestiture during the third quarter of 2017 in connection with the Canada divestitures.
