Item 5.02. Departure of Directors or Certain Officers; Election of Directors; Appointment of Certain Officers; Compensatory Arrangements of Certain Officers

On February 8, 2018, Rodman D. Patton, who will reach Apache Corporation’s mandatory director retirement age of 75 in June 2018, notified the board of directors (the “Board”) of Apache Corporation (the “Company”) of his intention not to stand for re-election to the Board at the May 2018 Annual Meeting of Stockholders, the expiration of his current term as a director of the Company. Mr. Patton is a member of the Audit Committee of the Board and has served in that capacity since February 2000. Mr. Patton stated that he does not have any disagreement with the Company or its management on any matter relating to the Company’s operations, policies, or practices. Mr. Patton has served on the Board since December 1999.
