11. Joint Venture Transactions

At December 29, 2016 and December 31, 2015, the Company held investments with aggregate carrying values of $6,096,000 and $7,455,000, respectively, in several joint ventures, three of which are accounted for under the equity method, and two of which are accounted for under the cost method.
