As a stipulation for the Merger to be approved by the Department of Justice (DOJ), the Company was required to divest certain slots at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA). As of December 31, 2013, the DCA slots to be divested were recorded as assets held for sale and included in Prepaid expenses and other on the consolidated balance sheet. In the first quarter of 2014, the Company divested the required DCA slots and received$307 millionin cash as well as24slots at John F. Kennedy Airport. The Company recognized a gain of$309 millionrelated to the divestiture, which has been included in Special items, net in the condensed consolidated statement of operations.
