Short-Term Investment The Company’s short-term investment at December 31, 2011 consisted of a $12.0 million certificate of deposit with a banking institution that had an original maturity of six months. At December 31, 2011, the short-term investment was classified as held to maturity and carried on the Consolidated Balance Sheet at amortized cost. The certificate of deposit matured on January 23, 2012, and $12.0 million of proceeds were recorded to cash and cash equivalents. There were no significant holding gains or losses.
