Short-Term Investment The Company’s short-term investment at September 30, 2011 consists of a $12.0 million certificate of deposit with a banking institution that has an original maturity of six months. The Company had no short-term investments at December 31, 2010. The short-term investment is classified as held to maturity and carried on the consolidated balance sheet at amortized cost. At September 30, 2011, the estimated fair value of the investment approximated its amortized cost, and, therefore, there were no significant unrecognized holding gains or losses.
