2009 In the six months ended July 3, 2009, the Company reported a net loss from continuing operations of $72.9 million (a loss of $2.06 per diluted share). During this period, the Company recorded an impairment charge of $100.0 million ($2.85 per diluted share), severance charge of $5.7 million ($3.9 million net of tax, or $0.11 per diluted share) and losses due to the cancellation of interest rate swaps of $2.1 million ($1.5 million net of tax, or $0.04 per diluted share). These items decreased net income from continuing operations for the six months ended July 3, 2009 by a combined $105.4 million ($2.90 per diluted share). For the full year 2009, the Company reported a net loss from continuing operations of $44.1 million (a loss of $1.17 per diluted share). In addition to the items above, during the remainder of 2009, the Company recorded foreign exchange related losses in Venezuela of $18.0 million ($9.0 million net of tax, or $0.24 per diluted share) and a loss on the early retirement of debt of $1.1 million ($0.07 net of tax, or $0.02 per diluted share), which were partially offset by the tax benefits of $4.8 million ($0.13 per diluted share).
