The Company's reporting segments consist of the Electrical segment and the Power segment. The Electrical segment comprises businesses that sell stock and custom products including standard and special application wiring device products, rough-in electrical products, connector and grounding products, light fixtures and controls, components and assemblies for the natural gas distribution market as well as other electrical and communication equipment, some of which is designed such that it can also be used in harsh and hazardous locations primarily in the oil, gas (onshore and offshore) and mining industries. These products are primarily sold to electrical distributors who then sell directly into the residential, non-residential, industrial, electrical transmission and distribution, and oil and gas end markets. The Electrical segment comprises three business groups, which have been aggregated as they have similar long-term economic characteristics, customers and distribution channels, among other factors. The Power segment primarily serves the electric utility industry and comprises a wide variety of electrical distribution, transmission, and substation products with high voltage applications as well as telecommunication products and smart infrastructure solutions. The Aclara businesses have been added to the Power segment and are intended to extend the segment's capabilities into smart automation technologies, accelerate ongoing innovations efforts to address utility customer demand for data and integrated solutions, and expand the segment's reach to a broader set of utility customers.
