American Crystal Sugar Company (the “Company”) announced to its shareholders in a letter dated January 6, 2009, that the Company’s Board of Directors has set the planting tolerance for the 2009 crop year at .83 acres per Preferred Share, with a planting tolerance of plus .02 or minus .03 (.80 minimum and .85 maximum).  The Board of Directors retains the authority to adjust planting levels up or down depending on circumstances that develop throughout the year.
