Item 8.01          OTHER EVENTS.

On May 25, 2005, Alcan Inc. received from the Competition Bureau Canada an order issued by the Federal Court of Canada in Vancouver, British Columbia.  The order relates to an inquiry pursuant to the Canadian Competition Act into the sale and supply of aluminum fluoride and calls for the production of certain related records and information.  Alcan is in the process of producing the required information.  Alcan is aware of similar inquiries made to other producers of aluminum fluoride by competition authorities in relevant jurisdictions.
