On September 21, 2010, Independent Bank Corporation (the "Company") issued a press release announcing its receipt of a notice from The NASDAQ Stock Market stating that it has regained compliance with NASDAQ's requirements for continued listing.  A copy of the press release is attached to this Current Report on Form 8-K as Exhibit 99.1 and is incorporated in this Item 8.01 by reference.

REGAINS COMPLIANCE WITH NASDAQ STOCK LISTING RULES

IONIA, Mich., Sept. 21, 2010 — Independent Bank Corporation (Nasdaq: IBCPD), the holding company of Independent Bank, a Michigan-based community bank, announced that it received a notice from The NASDAQ Stock Market stating that it has regained compliance with NASDAQ's requirements for continued listing. Subject to its ongoing compliance, the Company's common stock will continue to trade on The NASDAQ Global Select Market under the symbol IBCPD (until approximately September 30, 2010 and after such date the Company’s common stock will revert back to its prior symbol of IBCP).
