20.    Stockholders’ Equity

On November 1, 2013, the Corporation completed a public offering of 4,693,876 shares of common stock at a price of $12.25 per share, including 612,244 shares of common stock purchased by the underwriters pursuant to an over-allotment option, which the underwriters exercised in full. On November 1, 2013, the Corporation also completed a public offering of 4,000,000 Depositary Shares, each representing a 1/40^th interest in the Non-Cumulative Perpetual Preferred Stock, Series E, of the Corporation, at a price of $25.00 per share. On November 14, 2013, the underwriters exercised their over-allotment option of 435,080 additional Depositary Shares at the same terms. The net proceeds of the common and preferred stock offerings after deducting underwriting discounts and commissions and offering expenses were $54,434 and $106,882, respectively.
