20.    Stockholders’ Equity

On November 1, 2013, the Corporation completed a public offering of 4,693,876 shares of common stock at a price of $12.25 per share, including 612,244 shares of common stock purchased by the underwriters pursuant to an over-allotment option, which the underwriters exercised in full. On November 1, 2013, the Corporation also completed a public offering of 4,000,000 Depositary Shares, each representing a 1/40^th interest in the Non-Cumulative Perpetual Preferred Stock, Series E, of the Corporation, at a price of $25.00 per share. On November 14, 2013, the underwriters exercised their over-allotment option of 435,080 additional Depositary Shares at the same terms. The net proceeds of the combined offerings after deducting underwriting discounts and commissions and offering expenses were $161,316.
