ASM International Announces Update of Discussions with Shareholders

Almere, The Netherlands – June 5, 2009 – ASM International N.V. (NASDAQ: ASMI and Euronext Amsterdam: ASM) announced today that further discussions held with Hermes following the decision of the Enterprise Court of May 13, 2009 were inconclusive. The Enterprise Court was informed accordingly. A further hearing of the Enterprise Court is scheduled for July 2, 2009.
