Enterprise Court agrees to three month delay

of ASM court hearing and EGM

BILTHOVEN, The Netherlands – September 9, 2008 — ASM International N.V. (NASDAQ: ASMI and Euronext Exchange in Amsterdam: ASM) said today that the Enterprise Court in a ruling dated 8 September 2008 agreed to the requests submitted by ASMI in consultation with Hermes and Fursa on 4 September 2008 for a three month delay of the court hearing scheduled for 15 September 2008 and of the EGM scheduled for 22 October 2008. A new date for the hearing will be set in due course by the court at a date not later than 22 December 2008 and a new date for the EGM will be set not later than 22 January 2009.
