AutoNation Announces February 2011 Retail New Vehicle Unit Sales

• February 2011 retail new vehicle unit sales increased 29% versus February 2010

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., March 2, 2011 — AutoNation, Inc. (NYSE: AN), America’s largest automotive retailer, today announced that its retail new vehicle unit sales in February 2011, as reported to the applicable automotive manufacturers, totaled 17,041, an increase of 29% as compared to February 2010. Retail new vehicle unit sales in February 2011 for AutoNation’s operating segments were as follows:

• 5,240 for Domestic, up 40% versus February 2010,

• 9,114 for Import, up 35% versus February 2010, and

• 2,687 for Premium Luxury, down 1% versus February 2010.
