Item 5.02 Departure of Directors or Principal Officers; Election of Directors; Appointment of Principal Officers.

On August 1, 2006, the Board of Directors of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. (the "Company") appointed Adam M. Aron a director of the Company. Mr. Aron was also appointed to the Company's Capital Committee and Compensation and Option Committee.
