On May 20, 2013, Mesa Royalty Trust issued a press release announcing Mesa Royalty Trust’s royalty income, income distribution for the month of May2013. A copy of the press release is filed as Exhibit 99.1 hereto and is incorporated herein by reference.

AUSTIN, TEXAS May 20, 2013 — Mesa Royalty Trust (NYSE symbol-MTR) announced the Trust income distribution for the month of May 2013. Unitholders of record on May 31, 2013 will receive distributions amounting to $ 0.056523411 per unit payable on July 31, 2013. The Trust received $0 and $26,384 from the New Mexico and Colorado portions of the San Juan Basin Properties. Royalty income from the Hugoton Properties totaled $99,874. The decrease in Royalty income was due to increased capital costs as a result of new drilling activity, plugging and abandonment costs, and remedial work in the San Juan Basin Properties.
