Segment and Geographic Information

The Company operates in one business segment which encompasses the design, assembly and marketing of video management systems and system components for the electronic protection segment of the security industry.  Its U.S. based operations consist of Vicon Industries, Inc., the Company’s corporate headquarters and principal operating entity and its IQinVision, Inc. subsidiary.  Its Europe-based operations consist of Vicon Industries Limited and its Vicon Deutschland GmbH subsidiary, which market and distribute the Company’s products principally within Europe and the Middle East.

Net sales and long-lived assets related to operations in the United States and other foreign countries for the fiscal years ended September 30, 2014 and 2013 are as follows:
