Same-store sales for the four-week period increased 0.1 percent versus an increase of 5.7 percent in the corresponding period a year ago. For the third quarter ended October 27, 2000, Dollar General total sales increased 15.1 percent to $1,094.4 million from $950.4 million in the same period a year ago. Same-store sales for the 13-week period increased 0.8 percent. For the year-to-date through October 27, 2000, Dollar General total sales increased 14.7 percent to $3,108.9 million from $2,710.2 million in the same period a year ago. Same-store sales for the 39-week period increased 0.7 percent. Dollar General is scheduled to report third quarter earnings for the quarter ended October 27, 2000, on November 6, after the market closes.
