12. CAPITAL STOCK

The total number of shares we are authorized to issue is 1,218,050,000 shares, which shares may be issued as follows: 1,200,000,000 shares of common stock, par value $5.00 per share; 150,000 shares of Class B Preferred Stock, par value $50.00 per share; 250,000 shares of Class C Preferred Stock, par value $100.00 per share; 1,100,000 shares of Class D Preferred Stock, no par value per share; and 16,550,000 shares of Class E Preferred Stock, no par value per share. There were no preferred shares issued or outstanding as of May 30, 2021.

We have repurchased our shares of common stock from time to time after considering market conditions and in accordance with repurchase limits authorized by our Board. During fiscal 2021, we repurchased 8.8 million shares of our common stock for $298.1 million.
