21 ▪ Despite recent increases in inflation expectations, inflation is still running below central bank targets around the world; global economic activity and geopolitical disruptions may weigh on growth. ▪ The FOMC has communicated a plan for gradual rate hikes, including 3 expected 25 basis point hikes in 2018. But actions will be data dependent and markets show less than a 25% probably of 3 hikes. The FOMC has consistently underestimated the slow level of output and inflation in recent years.
