ITEM 2.02. RESULTS OF OPERATIONS AND FINANCIAL CONDITION.

On February 7, 2005, Genesco Inc. announced plans for members of its management to make a presentation on the Company at the WSA Shoe Show at 7:35 a.m. Pacific Time on Tuesday, February 8, 2005. A live audio feed of the presentation will be accessible on the Internet through the Company’s website at www.genesco.com. The Company also reaffirmed previously announced earnings guidance for the fourth quarter and fiscal year ended January 29, 2005.                         GENESCO REAFFIRMS FOURTH QUARTER
                            AND FISCAL 2005 GUIDANCE
            ---TO WEBCAST PRODUCT TRENDS PRESENTATION AT WSA SHOW---

NASHVILLE, Tenn., Feb. 7, 2005 --- Genesco Inc. (NYSE: GCO) said today that it
remains comfortable with its previously announced guidance for the fourth
quarter and fiscal year 2005. Genesco plans to announce its results for the
fourth quarter and fiscal year 2005 and to discuss the results and the outlook
for the new fiscal year in a conference call on March 3, 2005.

         The Company also announced that it would host a presentation on current
product trends in its markets in connection with the WSA Shoe Show in Las
Vegas. The presentation will be webcast live at 7:35 a.m. (Pacific time) on
February 8, 2005, and may be accessed through the Company's internet website,
www.genesco.com. To listen live, please go to the website at least 15 minutes
early to register, download and install any necessary software.
