CEO Email to Grabbers

Dear Grabbers,

From MyTeksi to GrabTaxi and now Grab, we’ve been on an incredible journey together. Today, we embark on yet another chapter of our journey as we take our first step towards going public.

Why now?

We’ve always said that we’ll become a publicly traded company when we’re ready, and that we’ll act in the best interest of our partners, community, Grabbers and stakeholders. We believe the time is now. We’ve found a great partner in Altimeter, a leading technology and growth investor. Like us, they are excited about Grab’s mission and what we are building in Southeast Asia. Coupled with their track record in backing iconic tech companies like Alibaba, Airbnb, Booking.com, Facebook, Roblox and Snowflake, there’s no better partner we can ask for in going public with.

It’s extremely humbling that this is expected to be the largest-ever equity offering in the U.S. for a Southeast Asian company. On our investor bench, we are also thankful to have the support of prominent tech and growth investors such as funds and accounts managed or advised by Blackrock, Counterpoint Global (Morgan Stanley), Fidelity International, Fidelity Management and Research LLC, Janus Henderson Investors, Nuveen and T.Rowe Price Associates, Inc., and even three sovereign wealth funds such as Mubadala, Permodalan Nasional Berhad and Temasek.

As we now step up to the world stage, we remain firmly committed to creating economic empowerment for everyone in Southeast Asia. As a further mark of that commitment, we’ve launched the GrabForGood Fund—an endowment fund seeded with an initial funding of US$275 million in cash and Grab shares. This fund will enable our partners and communities to share in and benefit from our continued growth and long term success.

You made this possible.

In under a decade, we’ve transformed a single-city mobility company into Southeast Asia’s leading superapp, changed how people move, eat, pay, invest, and so much more, all across the region, and enabled millions of driver-, delivery-, merchant-, and agent-partners to earn a living. None of this would have been possible without each and every one of you. The progress we’ve made thus far, and the recognition we are receiving is testament to the great work and stellar execution of this amazing OneGrab team.

We’re just getting started.

While this first major step to become a publicly traded company is an important milestone that should be celebrated, it comes with new potential distractions that we need to learn how to manage going forward—news on our plans to go public, the company’s valuation and eventually, the inevitable up AND down fluctuations of our stock price. These short term considerations must not distract us from our longer term mission. We’re just touching the tip of the iceberg in terms of the impact we can and will make on Southeast Asia. So let’s maintain our Day 1 mentality and stay laser focused on outserving our stakeholders with Heart, Honour, Hunger and Humility!

The immediate road ahead.

There’s still a lot of work to be done before we can ring the NASDAQ bell in Q3 2021. My ask of every Grabber is to keep up the great work and focused execution of our mission in accordance with the Grab Way. Additionally, please take very seriously all the new policies, protocols and training we will be rolling out for all of us as we prepare to transition into life as a public company, starting with the communications guidelines attached. We’ve organised a global All Hands tomorrow, 14 Apr, 11.30am SGT, where we will share more details too. Look forward to seeing, and celebrating this announcement with you!

Godspeed,

Anthony
