Effective May 10, 2006, Charles W. Coker and William O. McCoy retired from the Board of Directors of Progress Energy, Inc., Progress Energy Carolinas, Inc. and Florida Progress  Corporation in accordance with retirement provisions of the Progress Energy, Inc. Bylaws and Corporate Governance Guidelines.
