Related Party Transactions [Abstract]
Related Party Transactions and Transactions with Grace Related Party Transactions and Transactions with Grace
        Related Parties
All contracts with related parties are at rates and terms that GCP believes are comparable with those that could be entered into with independent third parties. Subsequent to the Separation, transactions with Grace represent third-party transactions.
        Tax Sharing Agreement
In connection with the Separation, the Company and Grace entered into a Tax Sharing Agreement which governs the parties’ respective rights, responsibilities and obligations with respect to tax liabilities and benefits, tax attributes, the preparation and filing of tax returns, the control of audits and other tax proceedings, as well as other matters regarding taxes. In general, and subject to the terms of the Tax Sharing Agreement, GCP is responsible for all U.S. federal, state and foreign taxes including any related interest, penalties or audit adjustments reportable on a GCP separate return (a return that does not include Grace or any of its subsidiaries). Grace is responsible for all U.S. federal, state and foreign income taxes including any related interest, penalties or audit adjustments reportable on a consolidated, combined or unitary return that includes Grace or any of its subsidiaries and GCP or any of its subsidiaries up to the Separation date. As of June 30, 2020 and December 31, 2019, GCP has recorded $3.5 million of indemnified receivables in "Other assets" and $0.9 million and $1.0 million, respectively, of indemnified payables in "Other current liabilities" in the accompanying unaudited Consolidated Balance Sheets.
