Property and equipment consist of the following (in thousands):

Gaming equipment and other property and equipment are depreciated over the respective useful lives of the assets ranging from three to six years. Depreciation expense was $6.5 million and $7.4 million for the three months ended September 30, 2016 and 2015, respectively. Depreciation expense was $21.0 million and $16.2 million for the nine months ended September 30, 2016 and 2015, respectively.
