SpendAdvisor analysis pinpoints cause for increased spending on two high-cost pharmaceuticals – generic equivalent with same efficacy is available at greatly reduced cost. Solution found: Premier consultants work with health system to define and optimize use of identified drugs, developing protocol to identify cases where generic would provide effective treatment. SafetyAdvisor incorporates real-time alerts to notify physicians when generic should be used, allowing for rapid substitution. Premier consultants monitor program, ensuring it doesn’t lead to longer length of stay, higher mortality, excessive readmissions.
