For periods prior to the separation, basic EPS was calculated using the number of shares of the Company’s common stock that were distributed to former Parent shareholders upon separation and diluted EPS was calculated using the number of diluted common share equivalents for stock options and other stock-based awards (consistent with the number calculated immediately following separation). See Note 2 for additional information related to the Company’s EPS calculations. For periods prior to the separation EPS amounts may differ from pro forma amounts previously disclosed which were calculated based on an estimated number of weighted average shares outstanding.
