Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) COPD is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in the USA - requiring chronic therapy and acute exacerbations lead to frequent hospitalizations ~13 MM US adults are diagnosed with COPD*; and 10MM chronic bronchitis* Most guidelines recommend antibiotic regimens for moderate to severe exacerbations likely caused by bacterial infection.
