Features of Units
 
Carrier 42 CE Fan Coil Unit is an energy saving product evolved from latest advanced technology. The unit combines advanced technology of low noise fan, efficient air condition manufacturing process and ingenious coil and fin design. Based on previous 42CM fan coil units, 42 CE has been developed to be an ultra-tranquil, high efficiency and easy to install and compact construction fan coil units, which are the replacement of 42 CM.  The fan coil Units has the following features:

Ultra-tranquil
The units use the latest wide wheel width design and low speed forward-curved blades, together with best match with motor, and a good muffler insulation materials. The units achieve the best level of noise through generally reducing it by 25dB(A) comparing to similar units.


High Efficiency

The Units adopt the latest lanced sine wave fin coils with folded collar, advanced machinery pipe-expanding process, which make the aluminum foil bond onto copper tubing best. The lanced sine wave fin provides a best channel to assure efficient heat transfer. Extra wide coil wheel provides a uniform heat transfer wind speed environment, which makes better heat transfer, so that with only 2 rows for the fan coil units, the input power cooling capacity of them  surpasses that of similar units with 3 rows at home and abroad.

 


 
Ultra Thin
 
The Unit height is only 220mm, which saves the installation space and meets all kinds of installation requirement

Flexible Selection
   
 
To meet specifics and limitations of installation, Carrier offers drain pans of different length for customers’ options:
   
 
· 42CE standard drain pan——— reduces the installation space, especially suitable for narrow installation space.
 
· 42Ce long drain pan—— extended length to collect
 
· Possible sweating from field installed valve accessories 350mm external drain pan available to meet a variety of application.
   
 
This series of fan coil unit have been improved in the following aspects, besides it has the above features:
   
 
· The closed terminal posts replace the original open structure; and apply the metal soft tube to the motor wiring, which make sure a safer and more reliable performance
   
 
· It adopts new type fiberglass as muffler and insulation material, which makes sure not only the smooth and beautiful appearance, but also the excellent performance. Even tested in the worst condensation environment, the good insulation performance of the unit can meet the international standards and requirements.
   
 
· The arc metal impeller manufactured by latest process technology ensure a more reliable application in high temperature space.
   
 
· The unit drain pan and drain pan insulation board are manufactured by integrated mold process, which not only makes a easier process and beautiful appearance, but also avoids the disadvantage of water leakage of welded drain pan.

Selection Method
Technical Specification

Selection of the cooling unit is to match the design sensible heat load with the unit
Sensible heat load. Under most circumstances, the coil has enough potential heat capacity to meet the design requirement. If using the outdoor air, the corresponding load correction and formula is as below:

The Fan Coil is selected when it runs at high speed, to make sure it is the smallest type of unit.
1. Confirm the operation requirement (Refer to Selection Guide)

2. Confirm the Unit specification, water volume, and pressure drop
Under the condition of inlet air temperature 19.5oWB, and inlet water temperature 7o, refer to the cooling capacity data table to obtain the unit sensible heat capacity, that equal to or more than required value. Get the sensible heat cooling load is 2510W, total heat cooling load is 3224W. Then refer to the left front line, and the model of unit should be 004 type. The water flow rate is 8 l/min, and the pressure drop on the water side is 19kPa. When the fan runs at other speed, the cooling capacity can be obtained by speed correction table of VS. Please refer to the cooling capacity table for VS value.
    
 
When the fan runs at medium speed, select (Cooling)
The Fan always runs at medium or low speed, so type of unit can be selected at medium speed under average cooling load. It is allowed to run at high speed at unusual condition or peak load to increase the unit capacity:
1. Confirm the operation requirement (Refer to Selection Gu ide)
If: Average Indoor S.H. cooling load --1480W,    Average Indoor T. H. cooling load---1980 W
Average Inlet Air Temperature ------- 27°CDB,19.5°CWB
Average Inlet Water Temperature ---- 7°C          Average Air Flow Rate ---------- 340m3/h
2. Confirm the Unit specification.
According to the technical specification, the air flow rate at medium speed is 430 m3/h, which is closest to the required air flow rate from the example. So the model of unit should be 003 Type.
3. Get the VS value in the cooling capacity table from the cooling speed correction table.
The unit of 003 Type, Sensible Heat multiplies 0.84, total heat multiplies 0.86.
4. Confirm the correction sensible heat and total heat, through average design load divided by correction:

  = 1762 (Corrected S.H Load)
1980
  = 2302 (Corrected T.H Load)

5. Confirm the Unit specification, water volume, and pressure drop
Replace the given load with the above corrected load. Under the condition of 27°CDB,   19.5°CWB, and inlet water temperature 7o, refer to the cooling capacity data table to obtain the unit sensible heat capacity, that equal to or more than required value. Get the sensible heat cooling load is 1944W, total heat cooling load is 2517W. The model of unit should be 004 type. The water flow rate is 6 l/min, and the pressure drop on the water side is 9kPa.

Installation and Maintenance Instructions

1.
Application Scope
This series of unit applies to 50Hz/220V AC Power, the ambient temperature of -30o~+65owhile no more than 4000 meters above sea level

2.
Unit Installation
For the horizontal unit, the upper level of it should be kept flat, while for the vertical unit, the level of it should be adjusted by adjusting bolts. For the Ceiling installed unit, the repair checkpoints should be kept for repair use. If the building is still under construction, the checkpoints should be protected against trash invasion.

3.
Pipelines Disposition and Anti-sweat Measurement
 When installing the inlet and outlet pipe, the pipe end must be tight with pipe pliers, and both ends should be installed with valves. The highest point of the pipe should be installed with air deflation valve, while the lowest point should be installed with water outlet valve. The condensation water pipe requires a certain slope in order to successfully discharge condensate. On valves, inlet and outlet pipe, and condensation pipes, the strict measures should be taken to preserve heat and anti- sweat.

4.
Electrical Wiring
Connect the wiring in strict accordance with the wiring diagram of the unit. Note: The power wiring should be connected with the yellow wiring in the diagram.
The grounding bolt in the terminal box of the unit is available to be connected with grounding system during installation.
Do not install two or more units parallel in the same switch; otherwise it will lead to loop current during the normal operation of the unit, even the damage to the motor.
A fully enclosed ball bearing is used for motor bearing, unnecessarily adding the lubricating oil.

5.
Water Supply Requirement
It is prohibited to supply steam or hot water above 100o. For 2 row fan coil unit, the temperature of heat water should not exceed 65o. If the temperature is over 65o, the water supply should be dematerialized water; otherwise it will lead to corrosion of the pipe, and then affect the heat transfer.
The maximum water flow rate should not surpass the sample range, and the water should be clean.

6.
Anti-freezing Measures
When the environment temperature is below 0o, stop the operation of the circulation pump, the water in the pipes will freeze, which will lead to the cracking of the coil of units and pipes. So the following measures should be taken:
1)
Operate the circulation pump continuously.
2)
Input the anti-freezing solution with appropriate concentration.

7.
Operation and Maintenance
Before operation, open the air inflation valve of the unit to release all air in the pipe, and then close it when the water flows out.
Clean the filter once a month, and clean the coil according to the fouling regularly, which will ensure the heat transfer efficiency.
