EXPLANATORY NOTE

On September 13, 2012, HudBay Minerals Inc. (“Hudbay”) filed on the Canadian Securities Administrators’ System for Electronic Document Analysis and Retrieval (SEDAR) website at www.sedar.com a press release announcing that Hudbay has completed its offering of US$500,000,000 senior unsecured notes.
