Item 8.01.    Other Events
On June 22, 2016, BankFinancial Corporation (the “Company”) completed the sale of three performing loans to a single borrower with a total carrying value of $16.2 million.  Although the loans are well-secured and are currently supported by adequate cash flow, the Company decided that it was in its long term best interests to exit the relationship now due to possible future events that could increase the risk of default and result in significant legal expenses and an extended resolution period.  The loan sale is expected to result in a second quarter 2016 after-tax reduction to earnings of approximately $875,000.  The loans were previously discussed in the “Nonperforming Assets” section of the Company’s Quarterly Report on Form 10-Q for the third quarter of 2015 (SEC Accession No. 0001303942-15-000063).  Additional details will be provided in the Quarterly Report on Form 10-Q that the Company will be filing for the second quarter of 2016.
