ITEM 7.01 Regulation FD Disclosure.

            On October 10, 2006, U.S. Premium Beef, LLC's majority owned subsidiary, National Beef Packing Company, LLC issued a press release announcing a reduction in operating hours at its Dodge City and Liberal, Kansas processing plants due to prolonged negative industry margins.  A copy of the press release is included in Exhibit 99.1 attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference.
