Item 8.01 Other Events.

On February 26, 2009, Synta Pharmaceuticals Corp. issued a press release announcing that it has suspended its SYMMETRYSM trial, a Phase 3 clinical study comparing elesclomol in combination with paclitaxel to paclitaxel alone in chemo-naïve patients with stage IV metastatic melanoma, based on the results of an analysis by an independent Data Monitoring Committee, which identified safety concerns.
