M&F BANCORP, INC. DECLARES DIVIDEND FOR 1st QUARTER

Durham, NC -- (March 22, 2007) -- M&F Bancorp, Inc. (“the Company”) announced that its Board of Directors approved a five-cent ($.05) per share quarterly dividend. Each shareholder of record at the close of business on April 5, 2007 is entitled to receive $.05 for each share of stock on the record date. The payment date is Thursday, April 12, 2007.

The Company, a one-bank holding company withassets of approximately $268.0 million as of December 31, 2006, is the parent company of Mechanics and Farmers Bank (M&F Bank).
