CERTIFICATION PURSUANT TO 18 U.S.C. SECTION 1350, AS ADOPTED PURSUANT TO SECTION 906 OF THE SARBANES-OXLEY ACT OF 2002

In connection with the Annual Report of Alaska Communications Systems Group, Inc. (the “Company”) on Form 10-K/A for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2011 (the “Report”), I, Anand Vadapalli, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Company, certify, pursuant to 18 U.S.C. §. 1350, as created by § 906 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, that:
