Goodwill represents the excess of the total acquisition price paid over the fair value of the assets acquired, net of the fair values of liabilities assumed. Additional information on the acquisitions and acquisition price allocations is provided in Note 2. The additions to goodwill in 2015 of $2.4 million relate to acquisition accounting adjustments.

Intangible additions in 2014 relate to the Merger and represent the value of the core deposits, which includes all deposits except certificates of deposit. The value of the core deposit intangible assets were determined by an analysis of the cost differential between the core deposits inclusive of estimated servicing costs and alternative funding sources. The core deposit intangible recorded in connection with the Merger will be amortized on an accelerated basis over a period of 10 years.

The Company conducts its annual evaluation of goodwill for impairment as of its year end of December 31. Goodwill and other intangibles are required to be analyzed for impairment if certain triggering events occur. During the three months ended March 31, 2015, management determined that no triggering events occurred that required an impairment analysis. The table below presents the forecasted amortization expense for other intangible assets acquired in all mergers:
