The above value of inventories, before reduction for the LIFO reserve, approximates replacement cost at the respective dates. Of the $179.0 million and $156.2 million inventory at May 27, 2017 and August 27, 2016, respectively, $156.4 million and $149.4 million is valued on a LIFO basis; the remaining inventories of $22.6 million and $6.8 million at May 27, 2017 and August 27, 2016, respectively, are valued on a FIFO basis.
