NOTES TO SCHEDULE III - REAL ESTATE ASSETS AND ACCUMULATED DEPRECIATION

(A) The aggregate cost of properties for federal income tax purposes is approximately $3.7 billion at December 31, 2021.

(B) Depreciation is calculated using estimated useful lives of depreciable assets up to 50 years for prison facilities.

(C) Held for Sale.

(D) CoreCivic retains title to this asset, which is classified under other real estate assets on the Company's consolidated balance sheets in accordance with ASC 853.

(E) CoreCivic recorded non-cash impairments during the fourth quarter of 2014 to write down the book value of the Mineral Wells facility, during the third quarter of 2017 to write down the book value of the Bridgeport facility, during the second quarter of 2020 to write down the book value of the Tulsa Transitional Center, and during the fourth quarter of 2021 to write down the book value of the Ulster Facility to the estimated fair values assuming uses other than correctional or residential reentry facilities.
